Ingredients
- One packet of strudel pastry sheets (30 x 35 cm) of vegan
- 50 – 100 g hazelnuts chopped or almonds chopped – grated also works, may need a little more
- 1 tbsp raw sugar, depending on the sweetness of the apples – can also be omitted
- 2 tbsp margarine, vegan “butter
- 2 tbsp sultanas
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- Four apples
- Vegetable oil
- Icing sugar for sprinkling
- A few drops of fresh lemon or orange juice
Preparation
- Wash, peel and core the apples and cut them into small cubes.
- Melt the vegan butter in a pan.
- Add apples, lemon or orange juice, cinnamon, and raw sugar, and lightly fry/steam (approximately 5 minutes, depending on quantity) until the escaping liquid evaporates.
- Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the grated hazelnuts, almonds, and sultanas.
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
- Place a sheet of strudel pastry on a clean kitchen towel and place 2 tbsp filling on the bottom edge.
- Fold in the side edges and carefully roll up the sheet, starting at the filling.
- Place seam side down on a baking tray and brush with oil.
- Do the same with the other sheets until the filling is used up.
- Place baking paper in the oven and put the strudels in the oven.
- Bake for 25 – 30 minutes (depending on the oven), watching until the strudels are brown on the outside.
- Cut in the middle and serve on a plate, possibly with vegan whipped cream or vanilla cream.
- Strudels can be sprinkled with icing sugar if desired.
